KOTA KINABALU: Incumbent Api-Api Assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew donated two sacrificial cows in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration on Saturday.
She gave out beef portions in addition to financial assistance to representatives from 12 mosques, suraus and religious bodies at a gathering held in the compound of Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK).
The beneficiaries were Masjid USIA Bandar Kota Kinabalu, Jawatankuasa Badan Dakwah Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu, Tabung Surau IPD Kota Kinabalu, Badan Dakwah MPN Negeri Sabah, Wadah Pencerdasan Umat Malaysia Negeri Sabah, Darul Bakti Kota Belud, Masjid Al-Hidayah, Kg Sabang, Surau Penempatan Telipok, Surau Al-Azhar, Kg Lok Urai,Masjid Al-Alif, Pulau Gaya, Masjid Sembulan and Masjid Pasar Kraftangan (Al-Aman), KK.

Among the recipients who received the contributions from Liew were ASP Azlan Misli who represented City Mayor ACP Habibi Majinji (Tabung Surau IPD KK), Mustapha Sakmud on behalf of Chairman Abdul Razak Jamil (Badan Dakwah MPN Negeri Sabah) and Imam Harun Wahid on behalf of Masjid USIA Bandar Kota Kinabalu’s Treasurer, Datuk Arshad Idris.
The event was jointly organised by Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and Api-Api Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM).
“I am doing my bit for charity and wish the Muslim community ‘Selamat Menyambut Hari Aidiladha Tahun 2020,” said Liew.
Earlier, she was represented by her Political Secretary Mustapha Sakmud at the ritual slaughter of the cows in the compound of Masjid USIA Bandar Kota Kinabalu. Present were Imam Al-Fadhil Ustaz Julni Alam, Api-Api Pemaju Mukim Zaini Simin and Api-Api Community Development Leader Grace Lee.

At the gathering, 25 single mothers received beef cuts, cash aid and food essentials contributed by Liew who is also caretaker Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment.
Meanwhile, seven hawkers each received a canopy for rain protection under a special assistance category.
Also present were DBKK Deputy Director-General (Operations), Lifred Wong who represented Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman and Liew’s Political Secretary Vivien Lee.. End
