UCSI gets global nod | The Star

IT’S a double celebration for UCSI University in the recent Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR) 2023.

The varsity received the QS Recognition for Improvement Award at the seventh edition of the EduData Summit (EDS) 2022, which was held in New York in the United States on June 8.

This was in recognition of its jump in the latest edition of the rankings – by a staggering 63 places.

UCSI University now stands at the 284th position in the QS WUR, placing it among the world’s top 0.9% of universities.

Being the only university in the world to receive the award in that category during the event, its vice-chancellor and UCSI Group chief executive officer Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir said the recognition was a culmination of years of hard work.

“Continuous improvement is part of the university’s DNA and the award shows that we are moving in the right direction.Breaking into the top 300 is a testament to the good work our staff, students and alumni have done.

“Ultimately, a university’s success is that of its students and we will continue to enrich the student experience, improve graduate outcomes and promote thought leadership,” she said in a press release, adding that its improving global profile would spur the university’s collaborative efforts with renowned universities, especially in research and knowledge creation.

Its climb in the rankings, the university said, is a result of its scores in the areas of academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, and ratios for international students and faculty.
